Give Them Second Chance

On March 18, students held an interest activity on the topic "Recycling". The initiative is on the occasion of World Recycling Day. The children were introduced to the essence of recycling and its importance for environmental protection in the form of a talk, after which they made bins for separate collection of waste.
Recycling is one of the best ways to make a positive impact on the world we live in, fourth graders believe. It is important both for the environment and for the people themselves. The industry nowadays is huge and we are all inundated with new and new items that we want to have. The technological boom and today's modern packaging that is made every day contains resources that are not biodegradable. One of the biggest problems on Earth is related to the use of plastic bags, which can also be recycled, said the students, convinced of the meaning of separate waste collection.
The children learned facts related to water pollution: because of plastic bags, 90% of which reach the ocean, 100,000 marine animals die every year as a result of the pollution caused by them. 30,000 pieces of plastic and plastic waste are found every square kilometer in the ocean, and 16 billion liters of oil are used annually to produce plastic bags.
The most important thing we can say about recycling is that through it we save energy, reduce landfills, preserve natural resources for a longer time and contribute to the preservation of our beautiful nature. This is also the reason for students to become more actively involved in taking care of nature - by building habits of separate collection and promoting recycling.
